The earliest recorded mention of horse therapy can be found in the writings of Hippocrates (460-370 BC). In ancient Greece horseback rides were often given to lift the spirits of the incurably ill.

Therapeutic horseback riding is used in treatment and rehabiliation programs for patients with a wide variety of illnesses and disabilities. Studies have shown that Equine therapy has resulted in increased confidence and self esteem.
