Hopes and Dreams Riding Facility, Inc was created and initiated out of the desire to aid and assist Veterans, military soldiers and their families to cope with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Drug and Alcohol addistion, and other disabilities.
We are The Randall's. Three of our four sons were deployed for war. Jeremy and Joshua joined the Army and went to Iraq. Joshua also served in Afghanistan. Chris served in the Navy during the Persian Gulf War, and later in Iraq with the Army National Guard. While our youngest son Jacob was left at home to hold down the fort with mom and dad. Our sons that served came home but brought the war home with them in what is called Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
We watched as our sons dealt with their memories, nightmares, and flashbacks that only got worse with time. We watched them use the prescribed medicines, and was disappointed as the medications and rest didn’t work.
Then, we spoke to a man in Texas about PTSD. Hearing our situation, the Texan told Mike, “You’ve got land. You’ve got horses. What’s the problem?” We took the Texan’s words to heart.
Shortly after Jeremy started riding, we noticed a difference as working with and riding horses helped take his mind off the war. Watching him improve, we wondered if the horses couldn’t help other soldiers still battling the memories and effects of war. We believed they could.

....is a safe place for Veterans to heal.
Starting on 10 acres of land we had, we used tents purchased through a grant from the ASMBA Star Foundation to house wounded warrior groups who came from several military facilities such as Fort Campbell, KY and Ft. Benning, GA. These groups would stay an average of 5 - 7 days enjoying the great outdoors and the horse riding experiences.
After telling our story to local individuals, banks, civic, church and community organizations we started receiving in-kind donations of horses, tack, lumber and fencing materials. Not to mention individuals and organizations giving financial contributions to help in the start-up and operational costs of the organization. Many wonderful volunteers helped build pasture fences, lay water pipes, and build the horse arena, as well as, assisting in the grooming and care of the horses.
Soon after that we reached out to Moody AFB military personnel and their families and offered various equine activities, lodging, food, fun and games to allow the stress of everyday military life and to provide solitude and peace of mind.
After several years, this organization began to grow and started housing Veterans in need of assistance. A Valdosta, GA businessman gifted the Claybank bldg and 5.48 acres of land located in Quitman, GA to Hopes and Dreams for use in lodging these veterans. From that act of kindness this organization has developed into an residential equine therapeutic riding facility with a focus on reintregrating veterans back into society.
There is no government assistance and all funding is through grants and private donations. Hopes and Dreams Riding Facility, Inc is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization. All donations are tax deductible.
